Your route

Melbourne → western Victoria → Adelaide → Port Augusta → Ceduna → Nullarbor → Esperance → Albany → Perth

Suggested pacing, not a fixed tour. Check current roads, weather, permits and campsite access, book sites that fit your vehicle and follow your agreed hire conditions.

Day 1–4

Western Victoria

Ease into the journey with staged coastal or country stops rather than a long first day. Learn the van’s systems and finalise the longer route before moving west.

Before you go: Confirm the whole route and kilometre allowance first.

Day 5–7

Adelaide and surrounds

Use a settled base to rest, resupply and review weather and road conditions. Make this a preparation stop as well as a city visit.

Before you go: Check the booking’s assistance and remote-travel conditions.

Day 8–10

Port Augusta towards Ceduna

Break the drive into daylight stages, with booked overnight locations and fuel planning. Carry suitable provisions for the approved route and confirm services before relying on them.

Before you go: Do not treat published distances as a promise that a service is open.

Day 11–14

Across the Nullarbor

Use several staged driving days and planned roadhouse stops. Check weather, fuel access, communications and border requirements in advance. Stop when tired rather than pushing to a target.

Before you go: Remote sections require explicit approval and a realistic assistance plan.

Day 15–17

Esperance region

Take time to rest after the crossing and explore only roads permitted for your vehicle. A coastal base offers shorter outings and a chance to replenish supplies.

Before you go: A scenic track may be unsuitable or outside your agreement.

Day 18–20

Albany and the south coast

Stage the journey along the south with town campsites, time for coastal walks and a day without driving. Adapt activities to current conditions.

Before you go: Check weather and local park access.

Day 21–24

Towards Perth

Finish the outward journey in manageable stages, with room to enjoy the final stops. Your return hire days and route must already be agreed before departure from Melbourne.

Before you go: Allow a substantial separate return journey, not a last-day dash.

Make the route yours.

Add a rest day, bring the bikes or choose a shorter loop. Tell us your group, dates and route so we can help match the vehicle and accessories.
