Holiday parks: an easy first night
A booked holiday park lets you settle into the van. Ask for a pitch that fits your exact vehicle, confirm arrival times and choose power when you need mains appliances. Facilities and pet policies vary.
National parks: check the campsite
Use the park’s own booking and visitor information. Confirm vehicle access, site size, water, waste disposal, pets and fire restrictions. Facilities can be limited, and a road inside a park is not automatically permitted for your hire.
Free camping needs permission
A scenic roadside stop is not necessarily an overnight campsite. Use designated areas, read signs and confirm local rules. A camping app helps discover options, but the land manager’s current rules take priority. Leave no rubbish or wastewater behind.
Plan water, waste and arrival
Refill potable water only from an appropriate source, keep grey water contained and empty toilet waste at an authorised dump point. Tell the park about your vehicle dimensions, pets, rack or trailer. Leave enough daylight to find the entrance and park safely.
