Your route

Melbourne → Mornington Peninsula → South Gippsland → Lakes Entrance → Bright → Beechworth → Daylesford → Melbourne

Suggested pacing, not a fixed tour. Check current roads, weather, permits and campsite access, book sites that fit your vehicle and follow your agreed hire conditions.

Day 1–3

Mornington Peninsula

Settle into a coastal base and give yourself time to learn the vehicle. Mix a beach walk with a village outing and an easy evening at camp.

Before you go: Book your first nights before pickup.

Day 4–6

South Gippsland

Travel east around the bay and choose a country base. Use short outings for coastal scenery, food stops and an optional gentle ride.

Before you go: Confirm road and campsite suitability before each detour.

Day 7–9

Lakes and rivers

Continue towards the Gippsland Lakes. Stay long enough for a waterside morning and a quiet afternoon, instead of making it just a fuel stop.

Before you go: Check designated campsites and current water conditions.

Day 10–13

Inland towards Bright

Take a staged, approved inland route rather than assuming mountain shortcuts are suitable. Choose a valley base for town walks and accessible trail sections.

Before you go: Check seasonal road restrictions and weather.

Day 14–16

Beechworth and country towns

Enjoy local heritage, produce and a full day without moving your home. Add a riding outing if everyone is comfortable with the chosen section.

Before you go: Plan a route around the group’s ability, not the longest trail.

Day 17–19

Goldfields and Daylesford

Return southwest in stages, choosing an inviting town base. Make space for a lake walk, a relaxing café stop and an afternoon indoors if the weather changes.

Before you go: Avoid overloading the final travel days.

Day 20–21

Close to Melbourne

Use the final night within easy reach of the return location. Prepare the van, leave traffic time and finish with a calm handover.

Before you go: Confirm exact return instructions in your booking.

Make the route yours.

Add a rest day, bring the bikes or choose a shorter loop. Tell us your group, dates and route so we can help match the vehicle and accessories.
