Your route

Melbourne → Great Ocean Road → Mount Gambier → Adelaide → Bordertown → Horsham → Ballarat → Melbourne

Suggested pacing, not a fixed tour. Check current roads, weather, permits and campsite access, book sites that fit your vehicle and follow your agreed hire conditions.

Day 1–3

Great Ocean Road

Settle into a coastal base and drive the scenic sections in daylight. Make time for a beach walk, a forest stop and a relaxed campsite evening.

Before you go: Check approved roads, height clearance and parking before each detour.

Day 4–5

Western Victoria and Mount Gambier

Break the westbound journey with a comfortable overnight stop. Explore the town and nearby landscapes using easy day outings from your site.

Before you go: Check current interstate biosecurity rules before carrying food across the border.

Day 6–7

Limestone Coast towards Adelaide

Choose a second coastal or country base rather than pushing through. Decide whether a beach, food stop or short walk matters most to your group.

Before you go: Book campsite access for your actual vehicle.

Day 8–10

Adelaide base days

Stay in an accessible park and use local transport where city driving and parking would be awkward. Keep a day for nearby towns or a coast outing.

Before you go: Agree interstate travel with us before booking.

Day 11–12

Return through inland South Australia

Begin the return in manageable stages. Choose a country-town overnight stop with facilities rather than making a single long driving day.

Before you go: Plan fuel and rest stops before departure.

Day 13–14

Horsham and western Victoria

Enjoy a quieter stop before moving east. Add a suitable nature visit only if roads and weather work for your group.

Before you go: Check park notices before choosing a walk or detour.

Day 15–16

Ballarat to Melbourne

Use the last country stop to relax and prepare the van. Leave enough time for the final drive, fuel and your agreed return.

Before you go: Build traffic time into the handover day.

Make the route yours.

Add a rest day, bring the bikes or choose a shorter loop. Tell us your group, dates and route so we can help match the vehicle and accessories.
